Dur•A•Span™
Corrosion/abrasion-resistant, solid aluminium alloy, structural plate bridges are ideal for saltwater and softwater applications.
Lightweight, strong and corrosion/abrasion resistant, Dur•A•Span™ goes the distance in over 1,000 structures worldwide — beating the usual heavyweight contenders, like precast concrete, on overall performance and cost. And now, thanks to our innovative reinforcing rib technology and the corrugation profile of 230 mm pitch by 64 mm depth, Dur•A•Span™ can go even further (and wider) to outperform all challengers. The proven strength, economy and longevity of Dur•A•Span™ are ideal for marine coastal environments or remote installations.

Corrosion/Abrasion Resistant
Dur•A•Span™ structures are designed to withstand the harshest corrosive and abrasive coastal, saltwater environments. Proven over many years of wet/dry, corrosion/abrasion cycles, the aluminium’s tough, self-healing, oxide surface film is continually reforming to protect the structure and outlast all others.

Lightweight
Dur•A•Span™ is only 1/50 the weight of reinforced concrete pipe, so it ships for less and installs faster — especially in remote areas. Individual plates and ribs can usually be handled by one worker and bundles can be moved by light-duty lifts.
Strong
Dur•A•Span™ is made from the strongest non-heat treatable alloy in common use — alloy 5052. And its corrugation pattern makes for a more efficient and economical structure with higher section modules and moment of inertia to increase strength and stiffness. The specially heat-treated assembly bolts are hot-dip-galvanized to provide the durability required to withstand even the harshest coastal environments. With high ultimate and yield strengths, they help create structures that meet national standards around the world.
Easy to Install
Many lightweight Dur•A•Span™ structures can be shipped already assembled to provide obvious installation savings in time and money. If delivered unassembled, the nesting components can be made in large sections with up to three different radii in the same plate, reducing the number of joints and assembly time.
Environmentally-Responsible
Made with recycled content and 100% recyclable, the efficient Dur•A•Span™ designs install quickly and easily with minimal environmental impacts, and their wide-span capability prevents blockages and flooding. Dur•A•Span™ structures require virtually no maintenance compared to concrete, reducing future costs and negative site impact. And, the use of corrosion/abrasion-resistant Dur•A•Span™ aluminium protects saltwater and softwater habitat.
Versatile
We create Dur•A•Span™ structures in a wide variety of shapes and configurations to suit many different project needs, including Box Culverts, Arches, Round and Vertical Ellipses, and Pipe Arches. Standard end finishes for Dur•A•Span™ include square ends, step bevels, skews, partial bevels and skew bevels. Integrated headwall and wingwall solutions are also available.
Available Shapes
Box Culverts
Dur•A•Span™ corrugated aluminium structural plate Box Culverts are used primarily when height is limited and can be used with cover heights as low as 450 mm.
Arches
Dur•A•Span™ Arches anchored on footings are ideal for installations where there is limited headroom and low cover height restrictions.
Rounds
The most common and versatile of the Dur•A•Span™ shapes, it is primarily used for culverts, sewers and sub-drains.
Pipe Arches
Ideal for bridges and underpasses with limited overhead clearance, their unique shape provides hydraulic advantages at low flow rates for culverts and sewers.
Ellipses
Vertical Ellipses are commonly used for service tunnels, single lane vehicular or railway underpasses.
Pear Shapes
Pear Shape is generally used for railway tunnels and underpasses, and with proper end treatment, Dur•A•Span™ provides access and protects the environment from erosion problems.
