As you first set foot on the grounds of The Reserve, you’ll feel as though you’ve discovered a hidden forest community. Located at The Vines in Western Australia’s Swan Valley, the subdivision boasts tree-lined backyards, idyllic natural gardens and a feature lake with watercourse, which required a traffic crossing.

The consultant, Ewing VDM, felt Atlantic Civil Products’ trio of Dur•A•Span Aluminium Plate structures was a natural selection for the project.

Corrosion/abrasion-resistant Dur•A•Span met the submerged structures’ 100-year service life requirement. It is also more environmentally friendly than concrete and promises a lifetime of maintenance-free service — a benefit to both the watercourse and the development’s operating budget.

Lead time was also an issue on this project, but because we have both design and manufacturing capabilities in-house, we were able to engineer and deliver the Horseshoe Arch and flanking Round units very quickly. The Atlanitc Civil team was available throughout the design and construction process and the contractor, Downer EDI, was extremely happy with our assistance and the overall project outcome.

As a finishing touch, the crossing’s headwalls were finished with a natural stone finish in keeping with the beauty of The Reserve’s landscape architecture.
